Mission Statement

In the Spirit of UJIMA, Inc., (ITSOU) is a nonprofit organization designed to aid and assist African American and Hispanic males who are at-risk of failing but can be engaged by caring adults by providing enrichment, training, and outreach services through mentoring programs.   Founded in 1992 in Mansfield, Ohio, In the Spirit of Ujima, Inc. is a non-profit organization currently based in Charlotte, North Carolina in the United States. Our mission is to guide male youth through a self-discovery method that aids in building their self-esteem, exposure, and stewardship. It’s through collective work and responsibility we are recruiting 1000 God driven men, that we aid them in setting higher educational and career goals, as well as ways that will challenge them to critically impact entrepreneurial opportunities taking place in the global economy.

Vision

Our vision is to provide culturally specific services through mentoring, advocacy and outreach programs. Implementing services to enhance our mission is to aid and train our target group by offering life skills and character development needed to improve the quality of life for at-risk African-American and Hispanic American males to across the United States. Therefore, we are proposing the implementation of advocacy, prevention, and exposure to help raise the conscious of these many problems as well as need for resources to necessitate full program strategies designed to serve this target at- risk group serving future generations.
